PhD position for LISEL@DREAMS project at Friedrich Schiller University Jena

© Friedrich-Schiller-Universität Jena

The Institute of Optics and Quantum Electronics at the Faculty of Physics and Astronomy, Friedrich Schiller University Jena, is looking for a doctoral researcher (m/f/d) to start at the earliest convenience.

The successful applicant will be responsible for constructing an ion beam cooler for negatively charged ions at the University of Jena and will participate on the first measurements with the LISEL setup.

The PhD candidate will be hired within the framework of the BMBF-funded (German Ministry for Science and Education) collaborative project 05K2019 LISEL@DREAMS, in which the applicability of accelerator mass spectrometry is to be extended. To achieve this the method of element selective suppression of unwanted isobars by interaction of negatively charged ions with laser beams will be applied. A dedicated setup will be constructed at the University of Jena and in a later stage installed at HZDR’s ion beam center.

The application deadline is 15 July 2020.

More information can be found at Friedrich Schiller University of Jena’s job board.
