Data Protection & Privacy Policy

Astrid Berens

We would like to provide you with information on what personal data we collect when you visit our website and/or use our online services and how we utilize your data. This is a project website involving 18 project partners from all over Europe. The processing of the data takes place by the project partners.

When users access our website, data such as the computer’s IP address, internet browser used, date, time of day and duration spent on the page is logged for a period of seven days. In principal, this data is only analyzed when technical problems or attacks on our webserver arise.

We do not use statistics programs to analyze user behavior and do not use any “social media plugin” (such as the “Facebook Like button”) on these pages.

We in no way save or gather additional personal data through this website (such as names, addresses, telephone numbers or email addresses) unless you provide us with such information (for example, if you get in contact with us, utilize registration forms for events and workshops or fill in online applications) as well as in the context outlined as follows. Personal data you willingly provide (also in regard to required fields as part of your request) is treated confidentially and will only be processed to answer your request. If you use the contact form on our contact site, your e-mail address is verified to make sure you are not a spammer. Otherwise, no information is passed on to third parties without your consent and/or your being informed. The website is hosted on a HZDR internal server. A service provider for maintenance and support is not used.

We use https (Hyper Text Transfer Protocol Secure) on this website, which is the secure version of HTTP encrypting all communications between your browser and the website. Users should be aware that Internet data transfer (e.g., through email communication) can encounter security issues. Complete protection from access by third parties is impossible.

Our Internet site uses cookies. Cookies are text files that are stored in a computer system via an Internet browser. These cookies do not retrieve stored data on your hard drive and do not affect your PC or your data. Cookies do not contain viruses, Trojans or other malicious applications.

Most browsers are set to automatically accept cookies. You can, however, deactivate the saving of cookies or set your browser so that you are informed when cookies are transmitted. Depending on your browser settings, the cookie can be deleted when you close your browser.

Registration on offers a login function to RADIATE project partners and, perspectively, to external users to access internal information like papers, software, discussion boards.

In order to register on the website the future user has to put in personal data indicated in the registration form. The personal data entered are collected and stored exclusively for internal use of the project partners and won’t be given to third parties.

By registering on, the IP address—assigned by the Internet service provider (ISP) and used by the user—date, and time of the registration are also stored. The storage of this data takes place against the background that this is the only way to prevent the misuse of our services, and, if necessary, to make it possible to investigate committed offenses. Insofar, the storage of this data is necessary to secure our website. This data is not passed on to third parties unless there is a statutory obligation to pass on the data, or if the transfer serves the aim of criminal prosecution.

The registration, with the voluntary indication of personal data, is intended to enable the controller to offer the data subject contents or services that may only be offered to registered users due to the nature of the matter in question. Registered persons are free to change the personal data specified during the registration at any time, or to have them completely deleted from our website.
